Challenge (Clipper) logbook, 1852-1853.

The logbook of the clipper ship Challenge details a shipping voyage from London (Dec. 1852) to Hong Kong (May 1853). The Challenge was captained on this voyage by Edmund Pitts and was owned by N[athaniel?] L. and G. Griswold of New York. The keeper of the logbook was James Henry Chaney. Included in the logbook is an incident of disorderly conduct among the merchant mariners on board.
